As every kid, Carlos drew any paper that got in his hands. He then started to see art in a different way when he discovered  comics and MAD magazine. Inspired by the artists and illustrators that collaborated in those magazines he dedicated to self-taught the art of caricature. The pencil was beginning  to be a part of his hands, they were very hungry for more art, so  he went to study in Central de Artes Visuales, a visual arts high school in Puerto Rico. At this point, he already knew he wanted to pursue a professional career in art, finding a plane that would transport him to enroll in Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida were he studied and completed a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts majoring in Illustration.

Returning to Puerto Rico, he landed a few contracts as a freelance illustrator and graphic artist in advertising agencies, book editorials and a local newspaper were some of his illustrations were published.  Then he worked in a small firm as an architectural illustrator for a couple of years. Royal Caribbean cruises had an opening for  a digital caricature artist on board, that's when he started working for them. This experience was so enriching, that he began to work in activities as a live caricature artist.

Currently, Carlos works from his small studio as a graphic artist, illustrator and caricaturist for comissions and events. He is an active member of the Asociación de Caricaturistas de Puerto Rico since 2010. During the weekends he is part of the staff of caricature artists at the Restaurant Caricatura, located in Corozal, Puerto Rico.
